  • Guardianship Real Estate Sale Subject to Court Approval in NYC

Has anyone encountered this type of sale before? Very rare, but sometimes you see a listing that says it's subject to court approval. What does this mean exactly?

And how does guardianship work in NYC and New York generally?

After you negotiate and sign a contract, presumably with the guardian vs the seller or owner, do you then have to wait for the court to review the contract and approve it? Is the purpose of this just to make sure no funny business is going on, that the guardian isn't selling the property at fire sale prices to a friend or relative?

    Thank you, any advice welcome!
